Fuzzy Sliding Mode for Spacecraft Formation Control in Eccentric Orbits
The problem of relative motion control for spacecraft formation flying in eccentric orbits is considered in this paper. Due to the presence of nonlinear dynamics and external disturbances, a robust fuzzy sliding mode controller is developed. The slopes of sliding surfaces of the conventional sliding mode controller are tuned according to error states using a fuzzy logic and reach the pre-define...
متن کاملSpatially Localized Unstable Periodic Orbits
Using an innovative damped-Newton method, we report the first calculation of many distinct unstable periodic orbits (UPOs) of a large high-dimensional extensively chaotic system. A majority of the UPOs turn out to be spatially localized in that time dependence occurs only on portions of the spatial domain. With a particular weighting of 127 UPOs, the Lyapunov fractal dimension D = 8.8 can be es...

متن کاملUnstable Periodic Orbits in Turbulence
Recently both shear turbulence and isotropic turbulence have been investigated by means of unstable periodic orbits. These orbits are embedded in a high dimensional chaotic attractor that represents the turbulent flow. In both cases, the periodic motion can be shown to bear a strong similarity to the turbulent motion. Therefore we can learn about the nature of turbulence by studying the periodi...
متن کاملTesting for Unstable Periodic Orbits to Characterize
We present a new technique for the analysis of spatiotemporal data. In our approach the concept of intermediate-scale determinism is combined with a test on unstable periodic orbits. A comparison of original data with appropriate surrogate data provides a statistical assessment of the results. The method is applied to both numerically generated data and data from a natural system.
